All Arts Day, March 28, 2007
Members of the Harwich community turned out in great numbers for All Arts Day -- a showcase of art, theater and music from Harwich Elementary, Harwich Middle and Harwich High Schools that unfolded Tuesday, March 28 at the Community Center. Bands, choruses and drama groups performed in the gymnasium at noon following a Council on Aging luncheon. Artwork by students from grades 3-12 decorated the hallways and an art reception preceded the 7 pm evening performance.

Cast members of Grease perform a scene from their upcoming play.
It was a venue for students of different ages to perform with one another as the High School chorus joined the Middle School chorus for an unrehearsed musical selection. And it was a time for upper level teachers to preview the impressive talent that will be coming their way in a few short years. During the afternoon performance, grandparents could be seen hugging their grandchildren between acts and during the evening performance, toddlers could be seen dancing to the music at the back of the gymnasium. It was a unique opportunity for old and young alike to share their enjoyment of the fine and performing arts in our public schools!

Pottery students in Harwich High School Art Classes and the After School Pottery Program raised $237 for the Harwich High School Friends of the Arts. Their ceramic platters found good homes after being won by fortunate high bidders at the FOTA Silent Auction held during the Winter Concert, December 21, 2006.

" I love the artist's asymmetrical use of color. The platter is a splash of sunshine that brightens up the whole room."
